PLOT

Nino. 18 Days, the documentary film directed by Toni D’Angelo, is dedicated to Italy’s most famous blonde-haired icon, second only to Raffaella Carrà: Nino D’Angelo.
Today, no longer sporting the hair that made him famous and with music very different from songs like “’Nu jeans e ‘na maglietta”, Nino shows his first gray hairs, while still getting his hair cut by the same barber who invented his iconic style. His recent concert at Naples’ Stadio Maradona served as a symbolic farewell to the 1980s and to the unique sound that made him a household name. Capturing this intimate moment is his son Toni, a director, who follows him with his phone, asking questions and documenting every moment, especially the most personal ones.

Who was Nino D’Angelo really during those years, and how did he rise from nothing to achieve fame and success? And why, at the height of his career and while Toni was still a child, did the family have to leave Naples—the city that made Nino famous? To answer these questions, Toni D’Angelo undertakes a journey that follows his father during the “My Wonderful ’80s” tour and the preparation of new events, but also revisits the places of his youth, such as the Neapolitan neighborhood of San Pietro a Patierno, where Nino grew up, and Casoria, the town on the outskirts of Naples where he lived before moving to Rome.
